Callie

So some of you know about this and some of you don't...but our little Callie has been sick lately!
It all started back in October before she turned one, she got Herpes Simplex (sores in the mouth), that was an awful two weeks of no eating, dehydration, and a lot of pain!
After that sickness Callie just hasn't been the same. She hasn't been gaining a lot of weight and at times she has lost weight, she has been throwing up a lot and having diarrhea. We have seen her Pediatrician doctor many times and been put on various medicines, which seem to help but only for a week or two. Then we go back in for more or different meds. Finally we got into a GI specialist about 3 weeks ago and she diagnosed Callie with a severe case of the Herpes Simplex. That it was not only was in her mouth but also down her esophagus and in her stomach and intestines. She she took Callie off all those other medicines, kept her on Prevacid and gave Callie one other one to try. (This was a huge relief to me, because I was giving her a lot of meds multiple times a day!) Oh and the GI also wanted Callie to stick to the Gatorade diet for one more week then slowly add some solids to her diet(which she had been doing on and off during these last 3 months). So we gave it a try. It worked for one week! But then we were back to square one!
So the GI suggested we needed to go to Primary Children's and get an Upper GI done and some blood work! The upper GI look normal(the worst experience of Tony and my life....look at next post), and we are waiting to hear back from the Dr. on her blood work. And we will most likely be going to get a scope done for Callie next week!
So this is an update of the last 3 months....we will continue to keep you posted!
