Our poor Callie has been so sick this last week! I noticed this little red spot on her tongue on Monday. I just thought that she must have bit it, but I was really wrong! By Tuesday afternoon, Callie was so fussy (which is not like her at all), I noticed that little red spot had got bigger and that it had a white appearance to it and that there was another sore on behind it, along with a fever of 100.4~ I called the doctors and they had us come in that night! They thought that it was thrush or hand foot mouth disease. And said that it would clear up by Thursday, just keep giving her Tylenol/IB Profun and she will be fine. Well it turns out by Thursday Callie's little mouth was covered in big red/white sores, she had one on her lip and one on her little chin! She still had the fever and she wouldn't eat anymore! She was miserable, and I couldn't do anything to help her!
By Friday I was a wreck! I had so much help from my sister, mom and Tony's mom but I was still a wreck! Callie wasn't improving at all and she was getting so weak! With her eating close to nothing, and her symptoms getting worse, Tony and I decided to take her to the ER.
They admitted her and said that she doesn't have hand foot mouth disease or thrush, it is herpes simplex. I know it sounds so gross! They said that it is so common for kids to get this....
Callie was soon put onto an IV for fluids for about 2 hours! I cant tell you how much this helped her out! When we first arrived Callie was so lethargic and by the time we were ready to leave we were able to get Callie to smile and point to things. It was such a huge relief to us. Here are some pictures of our visit....
Callie listening to what the Dr. is saying
Callie cant quit figure out what is going on
Doesn't this picture just melt your heart!
Well Callie didn't do much on her birthday, so we are excited for her to return to her normal happy self, so that we can celebrate! She is doing a little better everyday! We will never take for granted the simple things of her drinking a bottle, or eating finger foods, or smiling at daddy when he come home! We miss our little burst of energy and cant wait until she is all the way better!

Poor little Callie. I'm glad she's feeling better. I'm sure it is so nerve-racking being a mom and not knowing what's going on! Hope she's all better very soon!!!
That is so sad. I am glad to hear she is feeling better. Good job on trusting your instincts and taking her to the ER.
I am so sorry to hear she has been so sick. Hopefully it is a speedy and full recovery. Where on earth would she get that sick from, poor thing?1 I guess these little ones are always picking up some germ or another. Hang in there.
poor little thing! Im so sorry Nat!
There is seriously nothing worse then a sick child. I am so glad that she if feeling better and that you felt like you needed to take her to the ER. Good call. That little IV looks so sad. I was a little choked up just imagining my little Jaid in that situation. Hope everything is going better.
