Baby Callie's Story of Arrival

Natalie wasn't due till Thursday, October 11th, but when their ready, their ready. On Sunday, the 7th, Natalie was experiencing pretty hard contractions every 6 min. that lasted about a minute. (At the time, they seemed hard and painful, but nothin compared to what was about to come) Anyway, we went to the hospital Sunday night (Monday morning) around midnight and she was dialated to a 1, and was about 80% effaced. They gave Natalie some morphine so she could sleep that night and she did sleep pretty good. I woke up and went to work at 8:00 and Natalie woke up a little bit later, still with contractions. She ate some food, but didn't keep it down, and the contractions were getting a lot worse. Grandma Vickie came over to help time the contractions and take care of Natalie. They tried going for a car ride, but Natalie made them turn back before they left the parking lot. Then Natalie wanted to take a bath, but she felt she probably couldn't do that. Finally, she wanted to lay down on our bed, but that made it worse. At this point (11:30 am), Natalie text me and asked if I could come home for lunch. Next, Vickie called me to come quickly and I left work. Vickie, thinking she might not be able to get Natalie to the car, started slowly moving Natalie down the elevator, out to the car. I picked them up and drove to the hospital. We rushed her into the labor and delivery room where they checked her and found her to be 3 cm dialated (12:30 pm). This allowed Nat to get an epidural and after that, it was smooth sailin. They checked her about an hour later she was still a 3. About an hour and a half after that she was almost a 5. They gave her some Pitocin (inducer) to help get her going a little quicker. Apparently this extremely helped because the next time they checked her, she was a 10! (7:30 pm) We all couldn't believe it and the excitement was building. For the next 45 min, she pushed and pushed and then out came Callie at 8:14 pm. She was tiny. 6 lbs even and 19 inches. Actually she was 5 lbs 15 1/2 oz, but they rounded up. This experience was by far the greatest experience of our lives. We just love this little girl so much, it's amazing. I will keep this blog updated the best I can so that everyone can see our little girl grow up.

It is so great to be able to keep a history this way about the minutes involved before that little one popped into this world. You will be so glad you have it. Natalie, be sure you write your thoughts too. When you look back it in 20 years, you'll feel like it just happened yesterday. Love you guys, lenna
